E. Garrison Benton, Jr. M.D.
Dr. Benton specializes in the treatment of chronic hip and knee pain. Joint pain caused by osteoarthritis (wear and tear inside the joint) is a significant problem for many active adults. The pain caused by arthritis can affect quality of lifeor ability to work. As arthritis progresses, it can make activities of daily living difficult or even impossible. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States, with one in three adults affected. Dr. Benton is trained to address symptoms caused by osteoarthritis. His goal is to help people return to life they once enjoyed. Dr. Benton and his staff provide compassionate care for their patients. Non-surgical management is the first line of treatment for hip and knee pain. However, surgery may be considered if these options do not provide relief.
After five years of general orthopedic training, Dr. Benton spent an additional year specializing in the treatment of hip and knee arthritis at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Dr. Benton believes successful outcomes after joint replacement result from a combination of sound surgical technique and active participation in rehabilitation. Dr. Benton uses less invasive surgical techniques to minimize pain and promote recovery. He is an advocate of direct anterior total hip replacement. In addition to primary hip and knee arthroplasty, Dr. Benton is fellowship trained in the treatment of complex problems related to previous hip and knee surgery, such as revision of worn out or painful previous hip and knee replacements, and conversion of previous fracture surgery to joint replacement.
Dr. Benton grew up in Abilene, Texas, and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics prior to attending medical school at Texas Tech School of Medicine. He and his wife, Jessi, are proud to have made Wacohome. Their family enjoys fly-fishing and all things outdoors.
