Juan J. Rodrigo, M.D.
Dr. Rodrigo, a specialist in the treatment of arthritis, joined Southwest Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in February, 2012. Dr. Rodrigo is interested in patients with all types of arthritis and is recognized as a specialist in total joint reconstruction. He has been actively involved in the research of arthritis since completing his M.S. in Biochemistry in 1968.
Dr. Rodrigo completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley and then completed his M.S. in Biochemistry and his Medical Degree at the University of California – San Francisco. He then went on to complete his orthopedic residency training at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California – San Francisco.
While practicing orthopedic surgery, Dr. Rodrigo also served as a professor In the Department of Orthopedics at the University of California – Davis from 1989-2003. He then served as an Adjunct Professor of Biomechanics and a Graduate Student Advisor at Clemson University from 2004 until he relocated his practice and research to Waco.
Dr. Rodrigo has incorporated his years of training and orthopedic practice to develop a wellness program that can be used by patients with arthritis, as well as those who have had joint replacement surgery and need to protect their new joints. Dr. Rodrigo has partnered with the YMCA of Waco to help make these programs available to the people of Central Texas.
